Friends of Warm Hearth/Jermik Ankyun Foundation

Warm Hearth is the first long-term group home in Armenia for adult orphans with disabilities or mental illnesses.  Our vision is to provide a home that is peaceful and nurturing to this vulnerable population. It began in 2006 as an effort by then-Peace Corps volunteer Natalie Bryant-Rizzieri. The group home provides a humane alternative to the Soviet practice of relocating disabled orphans to state psychiatric institutions at the age of 18.

Warm Hearth Group Home has provided a holistic model that honors and values individuals with developmental and psychiatric disabilities and assists them in integrating into the community.  Our hope is that it will become a locally sustained model that can be replicated in Armenia.

In addition to local community staff, the group home is served by a psychiatrist and a psychologist.
