The idea of an international body creating links between Armenian Health Care Professionals throughout the world, was originally proposed in 1973 in Beirut during the first Armenian Medical World Congress.
Eleven years later, in Montreal, at the closing of the 3rd Congress the idea was brought forth again and carried a step forward by the election of a small committee to study its feasibility.
Finally, in May 1990, representatives from France, the U.S.A. and Canada gathered in Montreal to lay the foundation of the Armenian Medical International Committee or ” Comité International Médical Arménien”. AMIC/CIMA became a non-profit organization incorporated in Quebec (Canada), with its main office established in Montreal. In 2013, the office was moved to California.
