Physicians are well versed in what happens between the collision and the transplant.  What about before the tragedy?  How do we counsel 15 year olds who are planning to buy their first motorcycle?

This activity will explore relative safety of various bikes, safety courses offered by CHP and the gamut of safety equipment that could be worn by the rider.

as a result of this activity, physicians will

  1. screen their teen patients regarding motorcycle use and interest
  2. counsel potential riders regarding safety equipment
  3. refer patients to CHP motorcycle safety programs

  About the program

An employer once said, "What if I train my people and they leave?" I say, "what if you don't train them... and they stay..." -- Evan Kirshenbaum

CME planning sheet (click here to download)

This should be submitted to the CME Dept at least 60 days in advance.  Basically it asks:

  • What's the problem you are addressing? (why go to all this bother?)
  • What results do you expect to see in terms of new skills, different behavior or improved patient outcomes?  How will we measure this?
  • What's the best way to offer this information?  (spoiler alert:  it's not always lecture format)

Financial Disclosure form  (click here to download)

this is required for CME committee members, activity planners and faculty (anyone in control of course content.

The purpose of this form is to identify financial relationships with ineligible companies (formerly called commercial interests). Owners and employees of ineligible companies are not permitted to plan or deliver CME activities.

Ineligible companies are those whose primary business is producing, marketing, selling, re-selling, or distributing healthcare products used by or on patients.

Examples of financial relationships include consultation, speakers bureau, stock ownership, research grants and others. We do not ask for monetary amounts.  We do ask for all financial relationships and take responsibility for determining whether the relationship is relevant to the course content.
